Born in Lima, Peru, and established in UK, Singer song-writer Ruben is a brand new presence on the Romanian music scene. Impressed by the local and international success of Romanian artists, the development of his music style is the result of a lifetime of musical influences. Growing up in a musical family meant that Ruben was always surrounded by different forms of music. His parents exposed him to a wealth of music as a child (Latin, South American Folk, Pop, Rock, etc), all of which added an additional facet in his musical development.
Music is not a new passion for Ruben however: after training his voice, guitar and song writing for years, Ruben started writing songs at the age of 18. But it wasn’t until joining a London-based rock band at 23 as the lead singer and guitarist, that he decided to take music even more seriously.
Thanks to his talent for writing radio-friendly pop songs that connect with audiences with the very first listen, his song “Mujer del Viento”, written for his former UK based band “Apex”, reached number 21 in Best of Rock MTV Latino Chart in 2013.
A songwriter with perfectionist instincts, Ruben has a flair for writing catchy songs that leave the listener moved by the raw emotion in them. His sound is best described as an mellifluous amalgamation of contemporary pop structures enriched with electronic and modern urban sounds.
In 2014, Ruben relocated to Bucharest where he discovered the amazing Romanian music scene. Encouraged by the reception he received from Romanians enthusiastic about international artists, Ruben composed and produced an electronic pop song titled “Go Back In Time” which was independently released in the summer of 2016. “I chose Romania for the debut of my solo career because I’m fascinated by the culture of the country, the music, joy & hospitality of Romanians”- says Ruben.
“My only goal as a singer songwriter is to keep releasing good songs that connect with the audience bringing them joy and excitement, and also to have the opportunity to collaborate with other renowned artists in Romania and why not the world”.
